The Village of the Good Life...
Near the sea and the mountains, Mouans-Sartoux is a community of 10,000 souls with “quality of life” as its motto. The village jealously guards its traditions of the past while managing its development for the future.
Formerly an agricultural village (olive trees, flower fields of jasmine and roses for the Grasse perfumeries), Mouans-Sartoux has progressively opened its arms to commerce and craft, both in the heart of the village and the surrounding lands. The creation of a modern industrial zone of some 20 hectares, the Parc de l’Argile, contributed to balancing job opportunities with residential and group housing. Thus the preserved “bygone village” can still reveal its hidden charms to those who know how to linger and savour history.
The visitor can admire the Chateau acquired by the town, as well as fountains, the ancient Chapel of Saint-Bernardin des Penitents Blancs, the square by the town hall and church, graced with tall trees providing welcoming shade, and the flowered streets with their colourful facades repainted in the traditional style. One can also enjoy superb strolls on the hillside or follow marked trails through the Mediterranean countryside.
The town’s proximity to the sea puts it just minutes away from water-sports centres, and only one hour from Gréolières-Thorenc and Caille for snow-sports enthusiasts. And golfers have a dazzling choice of courses.
Engaging activities abound for the young and the not-so-young, with many individual and team sports practiced in some 120 local associations, and at the Espace Charles Vanel, the Cultural Centre offers artistic and educational opportunities.
In the very heart of the town lies the cultural complex of the Mediathèque, an excellent meeting place encompassing many sections where children and teens can learn and explore: the multimedia area, a storytelling room, a periodicals reading room, and an area for research and documentation work.
Mouans-Sartoux has three movie theatres to allow quality film presentations for everyone. The Summer Cinema is at the Chateau.
