The caves
The awe-inspiring caves of Saint Cézaire are six million years old. Discovered by a farmer digging his field in 1890, they boast a wealth of beautiful, natural rock formations in fantastical forms.
The site of the Saint Cézaire caves is easily accessible to tourists. The D613 road will bring you to the woodlands. There, a large car park, free of charge, allows you to park just meters from the entrance to the caves.
The tour of the caves has been arranged with safety and access in mind. From the visitor center, groups are guided from cave to cave to enjoy the spectacular subterranean landscapes on a grand scale, enhanced by discreet lighting.
At these depths, the extraordinary pinks and purples of the natural columns of rock create a magical atmosphere. The incredible beauty of the setting inspires the imagination, and the rock formations take on the shapes of birds with magnificent plumage, stars, corals, tentacled sea creatures, an astonishing skull and even a skeleton.
Lastly, a formation of red columns resemble a magical organ that resonates evocatively beneath the cave vaults.
All facilities are available at the site of the Saint Cézaire caves, including a shop, bar and cafe. Enjoy your refreshments or lunch on the terrace or beneath the shade of the trees.
